lose weight with treadmillLet’s face it, most people – myself included – buy a treadmill to lose weight and trim down. There are other benefits of course – like more energy, better health, avoiding disease like diabetes etc.

But for most people the #1 reason they buy a treadmill is to lose weight and tone up.

So how do you get the best weight loss results with your treadmill?

Well, I got this one tip from professional bodybuilder Tom Venuto’s book Burn the Fat. Here it is:

 

Use your treadmill first thing in the morning before you eat.

Exercising on an empty stomach first thing in the morning has 2 weight loss advantages:

#1 Because your body has used up all your glycogen reserves overnight while you sleep – it is forced to dip into your fat stores SOONER when you exercise first thing in the morning.

You see usually if you workout during the day, your body will burn it’s glycogen stores up first for quick energy first before it starts dipping into your fat stores. This usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes before it can do this.

But when you exercise as soon as you get up on an empty stomach your glycogen stores are already used up. So your body will start to burn fat sooner.

This is a trick that all the professional fitness models and bodybuilders know in order to cut fat from their bodies quickly.

The second advantage is this:

#2 By exercising first thing in the morning, you stoke your metabolism and keep it high for the rest of the day.

I don’t know about you but there are days I don’t love to exercise. But when I get it done first thing in the morning, I feel better throughout the rest of the day.

And I also am more likely to make better food choices too. So by working out first thing in the morning, you get your metabolism revved up (especially if you do some lunges on your slow moving treadmill and build in some handweights) and you set the pace for the rest of the day.
