Pros and Cons of the Nautilus T614 Treadmill

Nautilus T614 Treadmill

The Nautilus T614 treadmill is a starter model coming in under $1000 – a very popular price point (although you may find it in stores a bit higher as the MSRP is $1499).

It gives you a sturdy build, easy-to-read backlit console, built-in speakers and it even syncs up to myfitnesspal to track your calories burned.

On the downside it has to compete with heavyweights in this price range like the Nordictrack 990 and the Sole F63.

So how does it stack up? Remarkably well actually.

Here’s what you need to know:

Backlit Console

Although it’s not the largest console window at this price point, the window is still easy to read and backlit showing your workout time, distance traveled and calories burned.  There’s also quick change speed and incline buttons for on-the-fly changes and an easy-to-reach-safety stop button.

They layout of the console is quite good – easy, intuitive with quick start and stop buttons and even a place to charge your ipad, ipod, etc.

Nautilus Connect

Nautilus has finally started to bring their treadmills online and the T614 offers a cool feature called Nautilus connect. It syncs with their online site and tracks your workouts online. Plus you can also connect with and track your calories burned that way.

Decent Basics

You do get some decent basics with this treadmill including the 2.7 HP motor, decent 55 inch belt, 2.5 inch rollers and 4 strike zone cushioning system. While the belt might be on the short site for runners or taller users, overall these are what you’d expect for a decent starter treadmill.

 Media Shelf

While it may seem like a small thing, with so many treadmill putting everything from TVs to web browsers on their treadmills, having a media shelf where you can watch your tablet as you run does come in handy. It can make your workouts go by a lot faster.

Folding to Save Space

The Nautilus T614 folds up easily to save space. It locks in place and the softdrop design makes it easier to fold and unfold the unit. Plus, there are wheels on the bottom for easy transport.

Heart Rate Monitor

There is a hand grip sensor to track your heart rate as you workout. While most treadmill do have this, we thought that the ergonomic, slanted design of these hand grips were a nice touch – a bit more comfortable than some other ones.

Cons of the Nautilus T614 Treadmill

Falls A Bit Short

The Nautilus T614 treadmill does fall a bit short compared to other models in this price range. For example, the Nordictrack 990 runs about $100 more and you get a stronger 3.0 HP motor, longer 60 inch belt, 15% incline instead of 12%, a larger console, iFit LIVE option and adjustable cushioning.

While the warranty is ok, it is on the shorter side. For example the 90 days on labor doesn’t give you a lot of protection – especially since labor can be one of the most expensive parts of fixing your treadmill.

Bottom Line?

If you like the Nautilus name and want a sturdy, quiet, basic treadmill for a great price, you really can’t go too far wrong with the T614 treadmill. It has decent basics and a few comfort touches like the media shelf and online sync options.

It is a starter treadmill so runners or heavier users may want to go with something a bit more sturdy. But overall this is a decent choice – especially if you can get it under $1000.

Where to Buy and Save
