Pros of the Nordictrack C970 Treadmill:
#1 Beefy Basics
This treadmill gives you a lot of the needed basics of a strong treadmill for under $1000.
For example you get a super-powered 3.0 HP motor that will take you through longer or more intense workouts with ease. You also get an extra long 60 inch belt – giving runners or taller users that extra belt space.
The 2.5 inch rear rollers are also generous and help to reduce wear and tear on the drive system (which helps your treadmill to last longer). And if you want to build in some calorie-blasting intervals, you can get up to 15% incline to help you out.
#2 Adjustable Cushioning
This is something you don’t find on other treadmills at this price point. You can customize the deck feel to your personal preference.
For a softer, more cushioned feel, you can turn the cushioning on.
For a more “road” feel, firmer surface, you just turn the cushioning off.
#3 Free Wireless Heart Rate Monitor
Many people prefer wireless heart rate monitors because they are more accurate – and they’re a lot more convenient than constantly grasping the hand sensors.
With the Nordictrack C970 you get a Free wireless heart rate monitor to help you stay in your target fat-burning zone.
#4 iFit Compatible
With iFit you’ll never be bored. You can download new workouts from Jillian Michaels to your treadmill and listen while she directs and coaches you through the built-in speakers
You can also map out new trails to run using Googlemaps and watch landmarks pass you by in the console screen.
Want some inspiration – go online to sync your workout stats and see how far you’ve come.
#5 Extra Entertainment Options
In addition to iFit you get 32 built-in workouts to challenge you and help you slim down. There’s also an iPod dock so that you can play your favorite tunes through the console speakers.
Cons of the Nordictrack C970 Treadmill:
#1 iFit LIVE Module Required
While the C970 treadmill is iFit compatible – you still need to buy the iFit LIVE module to install it on the treadmill. That is about $99 – however you can usually get a free 1 year subscription to iFit with the module. So it’s a great way to try it out to see if you like it.
#2 Dual Color Console
While the console is a fair size, it is still dual color. Some people prefer to have multi-color consoles available with the higher end Nordictrack models.
Nordictrack consistently brings out some of the best under-$1000 treadmills on the market and the C970 is looking like it’s going to continue the winning streak.
Compared to other models at this price point you get a lot for the money. Overall a great starter treadmill with some luxury touches thrown in.
