Nordictrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill – 2016

The Nordictrack 2450 is the mid-level model in the Commercial series.

These treadmills are built with tougher construction, stronger motors and more luxury options than Nordictrack’s starter models.

The new 2016 Nordictrack Commercial 2450 has added a few more upgrades vs the older model – and they’ve lowered the price, making it one of the best deals they currently offer.

For example, you get a larger console with web browser (10 inches vs 7 inches). They’ve also added an easily adjustable tablet holder above the console. So you can watch your favorite movies and shows as you run.

Other things that make this treadmill popular with runners include a super-tough 4.0 HP motor, extra long belt, adjustable cushioning and decline.

So is the 2450 a good buy for you? Here’s what you need to know:

Nordictrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill Review – the Pros:

#1 Full Color Touch-Screen Web Browser

The console comes with a multi-color, touch screen web browser that you can use to surf the net (or connect to iFit LIVE) while you workout. So you can read emails, watch YouTube videos or catch up on business news all from your treadmill, very cool.

Plus the new 2016 model has increased the browser size on this treadmill from 7 inches to 10 inches, making it easier on your eyes as you surf the net (or watch iFit LIVE scenery pass you by).

#2 Strong Construction – Great for Runners

Nordictrack put a lot into the construction on this treadmill, with a beefy 4.0 HP motor,  dynamically balanced 2.5 inch rollers (larger rollers mean less stress on the machine – so it lasts longer) and an extra wide, extra long 22 x 60 inch running belt.

For the 2016 model, they’ve also added a new WhisperQuiet design to reduce noise.

This is ideal for runners who need a machine that can take more abuse and still run smoothly.

#3 iFit LIVE Built-In

iFit LIVE lets you take your treadmill online and download countless new workouts from Jillian Michaels where she coaches you through your workout through the console speakers.

You could also choose to run a famous world trail (like Paris or Hawaii) while watching landmarks pass you by in the console screen. You can also track your fitness progress using iFit to set new goals and see how far you’ve come.

If you’re feeling extra adventurous, why not use Googlemaps to draw out a new trail anywhere in the world? You’ll then be taken to that trail and watch actual scenery pass by as you explore!

#4 Incline and Decline

The Nordictrack Commercial 2450 gives you up to 15% incline and even 3% decline for extra crosstraining options. The incline/decline works with the built-in workouts (and iFit workouts) to automatically change the terrain as you run or walk.

You can also change the incline/decline manually with the one-touch buttons on the console.

#5 Extra Long Belt

The belt is one of the largest that Nordictrack makes – a full 22 x 60 inches. This is great for runners or taller users as you can pick up the pace without hitting the edge of the treadbelt.

#6 Free Wireless Heart Rate Monitor

The Commercial 2450 also gives you a free wireless heart rate monitor. A lot of people prefer the wireless monitor as it tends to be more accurate than the hand grip sensors. It’s also a lot more convenient since you don’t have to continually grasp the handrails.

Nordictrack 2450 Treadmill Review – the Cons:

#1 iFit LIVE Subscription Extra

While you don’t need to have iFit LIVE to use this treadmill (or the TV or the web browser), if you want to try the iFit program out, you’ll need an online subscription (around $99 a year).

#2 TV Removed

The TV has been removed from the 2016 model and replaced by a bracket for your tablet, which some people may not like. However it does makes sense as more people are going online these days to watch TV like Netflix or YouTube. To compensate for the TV removal, Nordictrack also dropped the price, which is a pretty good compromise.

Bottom Line?

If you’re looking for a Commercial-Grade treadmill without spending $4000 on a health club version, you may want to consider the Nordictrack Commercial 2450.

It’s made tough and durable with a long belt, strong motor and heavy deck. Plus you also get tons of entertainment options and premium extras like the large full color web browser, decline and adjustable cushioning to make your workouts more comfortable and fun.
