nordictrack exp7i treadmill reviewLooking for an affordable treadmill from a top name?

While Nordictrack is seen more as a mid-range and high-end brand, they have recently introduced a more affordable treadmill in the $1000 range: the Nordictrack EXP7i treadmill.

While it’s a bit pared down, you still get some popular Nordictrack-style features like the full-color, HD, touch-screen console with iFit streaming.

You can take a new fitness class – even live fitness classes – from the comfort of your own home with this treadmill.

You also get an extra-long 60-inch belt to stretch out and run. Plus it folds up to save you space.

Is it a good option for you?

Here’s a review of the new Nordictrack EXP7i treadmill to help you decide:

Nordictrack EXP7i Review – Benefits:

Full-Color, HD, Touch Screen

The EXP7i treadmill comes with one of Nordictrack’s most popular features – the touch-screen, HD, full-color console. So you can see your workout statistics in full color as you run.

You can also connect directly to iFit Coach and run all over the world – from Paris to the Great Wall of China – enjoying the scenery through your console as you run.

You can also try a studio fitness class from your console if you need extra challenge (more on iFit below).

The console also comes with one-touch speed and incline buttons for fast, on-the-fly changes. And there’s a dual-speed fan to keep you cool.

Room to Stretch Out

While many treadmills at this price point give you a standard belt size of around 52-55 inches, the Nordictrack EXP7i gives you a longer 60-inch belt.

So you have some room to stretch out and run. Taller users will also appreciate this feature.

Travel the World With iFit

iFit Coach connects your treadmill to the Internet. From there you can do all sorts of fun things.

You can run famous trails all over the world. Hike the Grand Canyon or run through the streets of Paris, watching famous landmarks pass you by for some virtual reality fun.

You can also watch workouts with personal trainers as they lead you through the workout, coaching you along the way.

Plus Nordictrack recently updated iFit and you can now watch LIVE classes from your treadmill console.

So you can follow your favorite trainers in real time and even text them questions after the class!

iFit Live Workouts

While iFit is usually a monthly subscription service, if you get the Nordictrack EXP7i through the manufacturer, you can get a Full Subscription to iFit Coach included for a short time. So you can try it out first to see if you like it.

(You don’t need iFit to use this treadmill – it works without it. iFit is just an add-on option if you want it).

Add Challenge with Incline

Add some high calorie-burning intervals with up to 12% incline.

Plus, if you’re running a world trail with iFit the treadmill will automatically incline to match the actual terrain, giving you a more realistic experience. While it’s not the highest incline, it’s still pretty good for this price point.

Fold It Up to Save Space

The Nordictrack EXP7i treadmill folds up with shock-assisted lift to save the strain on your back. You can lock the deck into place and use the wheels on the bottom to move the machine out of the way.

Nordictrack EXP7i Review – Any Drawbacks?

As stated above this treadmill is more of a starter model.

It doesn’t give you the construction of Nordictrack’s commercial treadmills like the Commercial 1750 (larger rollers, stronger motors, heavier decks etc.). Still if you’re only planning on walking or occasional running you’ll probably be fine.

Also note that while it looks cool – the console on this unit is on the smaller side. If you want a larger screen, you might want to look to the EXP10i or the Nordictrack 1750.

Bottom Line?

If you’re looking for an affordable treadmill from a good brand name, the Nordictrack EXP7i treadmill is worth considering.

It gives you some great basics with a respectable motor, solid deck and extra long belt.

Plus you get a very cool, touch-screen HD console where you can stream new workouts to your treadmill every day or run famous trails all over the world.

While it lacks some of the heavy-duty construction quality of Nordictrack’s other models, you really can’t argue at this price. Overall a great value.
