Proform Sport 9.0 Treadmill Review – Benefits:
Bright Backlit Console With Scrolling Message Board
The console is fairly advanced for a starter treadmill. It’s bright and backlit making it easy to see your workout stats.
There’s a scrolling message board that instructs you on how to get started, connect to iFit etc. There’s also a racetrack display and constant feedback on all your stats like mileage, speed, calorie burn, heart rate, and time (no toggling back and forth).
Extra Long 60 Inch Belt
You have a little more room to stretch out here with the long 60 inch belt. This is particularly handy for runners or anyone over 6 feet.
iFit LIVE Compatible
The Proform Sport 9.0 is iFit LIVE compatible. iFit LIVE connects your treadmill to the Internet.
From there you can do all sorts of fun things. You can download new workouts from Jillian Michaels where she coaches you through your workout. You can also track and plot your workouts over time to see how far you’ve come.
One of the coolest things to do is to map out new trails to run all over the world. iFit works with Googlemaps so that you see the actual terrain pass you by in the console screen – very cool.
Built-In Tablet Holder
There’s a sturdy bracket above the console you can use for your tablet. So you can surf the net or watch movies as you run or walk. You can also link it up with iFit LIVE and watch the full-color scenes of the iFit world workouts.
It’s also nice that the tablet doesn’t cover the console window – so you don’t lose track of your workout stats.
You can also plug in your iPod to the console and listen to your favorite tunes or audiobook through the built-in speakers. A nice touch that can make your workouts more enjoyable.
Folding with Shock Assisted Lift
This treadmill folds up easily and locks into place. It comes with a shock-assisted lift mechanism, which saves the strain on your back. Plus there are wheels at the bottom to move the treadmill around.
If you don’t want to try the iFit LIVE, no problem. There are also 30 built-in workouts that come with the treadmill to add a bit more challenge to your workout. The workouts adjust the incline and speed for you, based on the workout goal.
Proform Sport 9.0 Treadmill Review – The Drawbacks:
You don’t need iFit LIVE to use this treadmill – however if you want to try it you’ll need to purchase an iFit subscription (about $99 a year).
Also, the money here has gone more into the construction side (larger rollers, stronger motor, extra belt space) – not into a lot of entertainment options. So if you’re looking for more entertaining toys, this may not be your best option.
If you’re looking for a well-built treadmill that focuses more on sturdy construction than bells and whistles, you may want to consider the Proform Sport 9.0. It gives you solid construction features for a great price.
While it is on the simpler side in terms of “toys”, a lot of people don’t want all the fluff – so why pay for it?
