Sole F63 Treadmill – The Pros:
Sole has one of the best cushioning systems on the market with the Cushion Flex system. It’s been proven in a university study to reduce impact on your joints by 40% as compared with road running.
The older Sole F63 models did not have CushionFlex, however Sole has added it to the new models – so it’s a great addition here that will give you more joint and hip protection.
Fair Sized Belt
The belt on this unit is a generous 60 inches long – which is great for taller users and occasional runners. You can pick up the pace without feeling like you’re falling off the treadmill.
Sole upgrade this console, which is a welcome change from the older one which had cheap plastic push-buttons. They’ve also enlarged the main console window too. So while it’s not as big as the higher end Sole models, it’s still fairly easy to read and backlit.
Side Handrail Controls
You can easily change the speed and incline from the side handrails as you walk or run. This may seem like a small thing but a lot of buyers really like it. You don’t have to reach up to the console to change speed or incline – which can throw off your stride.
Plug in your iPod or mp3 player into the console and listen to your favorite tunes as you walk – which can make your workouts a lot more enjoyable.
Free Wireless Chest Strap
You can monitor your heart rate in 2 ways – with the pulse grips or with the free wireless chest strap included with the Sole F63. Most people prefer the wireless monitor as it’s easier than continually holding on to the hand senors.
Sole F63 Treadmill – The Cons:
There’s a lot of competition at this price point. And while the F63 does give you solid construction and great cushioning, it falls short in terms of entertainment/fitness options.
With a paltry 6 built-in workouts it just doesn’t compare to similarly priced models like the Nordictrack 990 which offers iFit LIVE (where you can download multiple new workouts, track your fitness stats online and run famous world trails), adjustable cushioning and 32 built-in workouts.
Also, be aware that some websites list the roller size as 2.75 inches when, according to the manufacturer, they’re only 2.5 inches.
If you really like Sole construction and cushioning – but you’re on a budget – you’ll probably love the F63. The newest model adds a better console and stronger motor. Plus you get some decent added features like iPod dock and free wireless heart rate monitor.
It’s much more basic than Sole’s higher end models and it falls down a bit in terms of entertainment options – but it’s still a very strong contender in the $999 price range.
