Is the Golds Gym Trainer 410 Really A Good Buy?

 

I don’t talk a lot about Golds Gym treadmills – mainly because I’m not a fan. They’re a starter brand by ICON and usually you get treadmills that look like old, retired Proform models that were around 5 years ago.

Then again, they’re cheap. And these days, everyone is looking for a cheap treadmill.

One of the most popular cheap Golds Gym treadmills is the 410 trainer coming in under $500 with free shipping here.

Is it really a good buy? Here’s a review of the pros and cons to help you decide:

Free Set of Handweights

This treadmill comes with a pair of 2 lb handweights that fit nicely into the console. This can help you work your upper body while walking and a lot of people like this option as they don’t have to buy handweights separately.

 

10% Incline

While it’s not the highest incline out there, at this price point, it’s still pretty nice to find a treadmill with power incline. You can change the incline from your console as you walk and build in some high-intensity intervals.

 

8 Built in Workouts

These are designed by a personal trainer and control the speed and incline of the treadmill for you. It gives you some nice variety and challenge to your workout.

 

Folds Up To Save Space

The Golds Gym 410 treadmill does fold up pretty easily to save you space. This is great if you don’t have a huge workout area. It’s also pretty lightweight which makes it easy to move around (but doesn’t make it very stable).

Super-Small Belt

At 18 x 50 inches, this belt is one of the smallest on the market. If you’re taller or want to run, you’ll probably feel like you’re falling off the end of the belt.

 

Weak Motor

The motor is also extremely poor at only 2.0 HP. This means it’s has to work harder than most treadmills, especially at high speeds just to keep up.

 

Plastic Parts

My first impression of this treadmill in the store was that it had a lot of cheap plastic parts on it. These are the kind of parts that will break off very easily and cause you a world of frustration.

 

90 Day Warranty

This treadmill is “covered” by a 90 day parts and labor warranty. Danger Will Robinson, Danger.

 

 

Bottom Line?

The Golds Gym Trainer 410 certainly comes in at a fantastic price. And it does carry a few good features like power incline and an extra set of handweights. But frankly this is a cheap treadmill with a super-short warranty.

Would I recommend it? Not on your life.
