The Horizon Elite T9 treadmill is a newer, premium model from Horizon Fitness. It seems especially built for tech-savvy runners with a stronger motor and longer belt than their start models.
Plus the large touch-screen console is multi-color and comes with pre-built destination running videos for more virtual reality fun.

Pros of the Horizon Elite T9 Treadmill:
Johnson Drive System Motor
The Elite T9 comes with a Johnson Drive system motor (Johnson owns the Horizon name). This responsive digital drive system continuously recalibrates with each footfall. It adjusts instantly to each change in speed (this is similar to what Precor motors do – and a lot of people feel it gives them a better running workout).
This also helps to keep the motor cool – which helps your motor to last longer, even with long periods of use.
ViaFit Connectivity
The ViaFit connectivity on this treadmill lets you store and send your home workout information to the popular fitness apps and tools you use.
A lot of people today use some sort of fitness tracking app to set new goals and achieve more with their workouts.
Virtual Active Integrated Courses
The console comes with high-definition destination footage displayed on the console and synced to the speed and intensity of your workout.
The console of the Elite T9 treadmill comes preloaded with two destination courses: Northern Italy and the American Southwest. While it doesn’t give you all of the options of iFit LIVE, it’s still a great way to add some virtual reality fun.
Works With Passport Media Player
The Horizon Elite T9 works with the Passport Media Player. You hook the media player up to your TV and can run trails all over the world for a more “virtual reality” training experience.
Note however that the media player is not included with this treadmill – you have to purchase it separately here.

No Need To Lubricate the Belt
Horizon has put synthetic hard wax directly into belt fibers on this treadmill, which gets rid of the need for routine lubrication.
Free Wireless Heart Rate Monitoring
Stay in your target heart rate range with either the EKG hand grips or the wireless monitoring. This treadmill comes with a Free polar wireless heart rate chest strap.

Cons of the Horizon T9 Treadmill
Media Player Extra
The Media Player is not included with this treadmill – you have to buy it here for about $199.
While this is Horizon’s answer to Nordictrack’s iFit LIVE, it currently doesn’t give you as many trail options to run – and it’s more expensive up front (iFit is $99 a year).
Not As Many Options As iFit
While you do get 2 preloaded trails to run on the treadmill – unless you want to buy the Media Passport player and get more trails, you’re limited to the 2 trails (and the added workout programs). So there’s not as many options as iFit LIVE that you find on the Nordictrack treadmills.

Bottom Line?
The Horizon Elite T9 treadmill is Horizon’s newest attempt to bring out a serious runners treadmill for today’s athlete – complete with the latest technology, virtual reality options and full color touch-screen. They may actually give Nordictrack a run for the money.
It’s not just about the toys here either. The motor on this machine is excellent and the responsive drive system should add more durability to the treadmill vs Horizon starter models. Overall a great value – especially for runners.
