What You Should Know About the Horizon Evolve Compact Treadmill

 

When you review treadmills for over 8 years, you start to pick up a few things. You get to know the market – what people really want, what’s important to them, what ticks them off with their treadmills, etc.

And one thing that people really want/need these days is a good compact treadmill.

Surprisingly, a lot of manufacturers have not picked up on this – yet. There are really only 2 manufacturers that make specially designed compact, portable treadmills: Horizon and Lifespan.

This post will talk about the most popular compact treadmill: the Horizon Evolve.

This little baby comes in at a great price – around $799, depending where you buy it. It comes fully assembled in the box – no assembly required (another bonus for those of us who aren’t mechanically inclined).

It folds up to be ultra-compact (like FLAT) and can easily fit under your bed or in a closet (we all know that other standard home treadmills may fold – but you ain’t getting them under a bed, no way, no how).

It’s lightweight and portable – so you can pack it up and take it to the cottage for a month. You can also take it with you when you move instead of selling it, as people often do with regular treadmills.

 

 

You also get a neat little iPod dock so you can listen to your favorite tunes and a thumb pulse-rate heart monitor to stay in your target heart rate zone. There’s also 2 built-in workouts (ok, I know, only 2 – but at least you get something!)

While these things make the Horizon Evolve a popular compact treadmill, you should be aware of a few things before you buy:

With a running area of only 17 x 45 inches, you don’t have a lot of room to move – which is why I don’t recommend this treadmill for running.

Another reason this is not the treadmill for runners? The cushioning power you’ll need just isn’t there. You may end up hurting yourself over the long run if you try to jog on this thing every day.

And the final reason is that this treadmill only goes up to speeds of 6 MPH. So basically it’s better for walking.
