It upgrades to a longer running belt and stronger motor than the T101 treadmill.

You can also challenge yourself with up to 12% incline and a higher speed limit of up to 12 MPH.

Plus you get access to a free Horizon app that lets you control your treadmill from your tablet.

Horizon T202 Console

Horizon T202 Treadmill Review – the Pros:

3-Zone Variable Cushioning

This is a more advanced system than you usually get with treadmills at this price point. The belt has more cushioning at the front where your foot hits the deck. It has firmer cushioning towards the end of the belt – which makes it easier to push off to the next stride.

This can really help to reduce running fatigue and you’ll notice the difference after the first few workouts.

12% Incline

You usually only get up to 10% incline at this price point, so that little bit extra is a nice touch here. You can build in high calorie-burning intervals to your workouts.

Free AFG Sport App

This is pretty cool. With this treadmill you can use your tablet to connect to a Free AFG Sport App (Horizon also owns the AFG name).

From there you can see your workout stats and even control your treadmill’s speed and incline from your tablet.

You can also push your workout data to your favorite fitness apps through this app.

Music Port With Speakers

Although they aren’t the highest quality, the speakers on this console are still quite decent. You can easily plug in your phone or other device and play your workout music through the console speakers.

Extra Long 60-Inch Belt

The Horizon T202 treadmill steps up to a longer 60-inch belt (vs the 55-inch on the Horizon T101 treadmill). This gives you extra room to spread out and run. Taller users will especially appreciate this feature.

Media Shelf

Horizon also added a media shelf to the console a few years ago. So you can use it to hold your tablet or phone and surf the net, or watch Netflix or YouTube videos as you walk.

Horizon T202 Review – Any Cons?

Smaller Console

The console window on this treadmill is pretty small and the workout stats can be a bit hard to read. However it is backlit, which is a step up from the non-backlit console on the T101 model.

Also be aware that if you use the media shelf to watch shows on your tablet – you will be covering up the console windows. So you won’t be able to see your stats.

Starter Treadmill

While the basics are good, this is still a starter treadmill. The 2.75 HP motor power is on the lower side of what you find today.

And the smaller 1.8 inch rollers are again what you find on a starter treadmill. Basically these models are built for walkers – and sometimes joggers. The T202 treadmill is not going to give you the longevity, construction or cushioning of a runner-grade treadmill.

Bottom Line?

The Horizon T202 treadmill is a solid starter treadmill that, while simple, still gives you pretty good value for the money.  It has taken home 3 different “Best Buy” recommendations over the past few years, which is impressive.

And with the new media shelf and the addition of the free app to control your treadmill, it also carries some interesting entertainment possibilities.

If you want a solid treadmill at a budget price, you’ll probably love this treadmill.
