Incline Trainer Or Treadmill – Video
Does an Incline Trainer Really Burn More Calories?
A lot of people wonder if they should get an incline trainer or a treadmill. Here’s a fantastic video done by a couple of guys comparing the Nordictrack X9 incline trainer vs the Nordictrack 1750 treadmill
While I don’t necessarily agree with their conclusions about heart rate, this video is still interesting to see the difference between the two machines – and to see how high the X9 incline actually goes:
So basically, walking at 2.0 MPH for 2.5 minutes, you burn almost 5 times the calories (49 vs 10) as the treadmill. That’s a LOT of calories for 2 and a half minutes – 1/4 of a Snickers bar (don’t ask me how I know that).
Now obviously, if you’re using the treadmill, you probably won’t be walking at only 2.0 MPH. You’ll probably be going much faster.
But the video demo is still a great way to confirm that high incline walking INCINERATES calories (which means faster weight loss for you). To be fair however, it’s also hard work – as you can see by the fact the this poor guy’s heart rate was very high on the incline trainer.
Also, keep in mind that you can walk up to 15% incline on the 1750 Commercial treadmill – and it’s $500 less than the X9. So it really depends on what you’re looking for.
