Lifespan TR5000i Treadmill Review
Lifespan TR5000i Treadmill

The Lifespan TR5000i is one of the premium, runner-friendly treadmills built on a non-folding frame for higher stability.

It gives you some of Lifespan’s very popular features like the safety-stop sensor in the belt, step-counter and the online tracking option with Lifespan Fitness Club.

It also steps up to a 3.0 AC (not DC) motor for longer, more intense workouts.

So is the Lifespan TR5000i right for you? Here’s what you need to know:

The Basics:

Pros of the Lifespan TR5000i Treadmill:

Strong 3.0 AC Motor

The AC motor gives you very high torque at low speeds and is more responsive to speed adjustments than DC motors.

This is great for longer, more intense, running workouts.

Backlit Console with Intelli-Key Lighting

The console is a fair size, backlit and easy to read. It also comes with Lifespan’s Intelli-Key feature. The buttons on the console lead you through the programming process by lighting up and flashing sequentially.

It makes getting your workout started easy and a no-brainer.

Online Tracking with Lifespan Fitness Club

This treadmill tracks and records your workouts. You can then use a USB drive to transfer the information online to the Lifespan Fitness Club (one free year of membership is included with your treadmill purchase).

From there you can track your progress, set new goals and even design new treadmill workouts.

Intelli-Step Counts Your Steps For You

There is a sensor in the belt that senses each time your foot lands on the belt. You get a step-count displayed on the console during your workout.

This data can also be synced to your online Club account with the USB drive (see above). This is great for those that have a daily step-goal.

Intelli-Guard

This is another feature unique to Lifespan treadmills. The treadmill senses when you’ve stepped off the belt. After 20 seconds it will stop the treadmill belt from moving.

Cons of the Lifespan TR5000i Treadmill:

Entertainment Lacking

Compared to other treadmills at this price point (like the Nordictrack Commercial 2450 or the Proform Pro 9000), the entertainment features are a bit lacking. For example, the console is only dual color (not multi-color like the other treadmills) and you only get 17 built-in workouts.

Lifespan Fitness Club Membership

While you do get free membership to the Lifespan Fitness Club for a year, after that you’ll have to pay for it. And it does not offer (yet) nearly as much as iFit Live (found on Nordictrack and some Proform treadmills)

Bottom Line?

If you like the Lifespan name and the unique features of their treadmills – but you want a strong runner-friendly model, the Lifespan tr5000i may be right for you.

It gives you a tough, durable motor with a strong, stable deck. Plus the deck is longer than Lifespan’s starter treadmills at a full 60 inches.

While it doesn’t have some of the entertainment extras as other brands, overall if you don’t care about that, you’ll probably be very happy with this model.
