Nordictrack C990 Treadmill Review – 2016 Model
NEW 2016 Nordictrack C990 Treadmill Is Here!

The Nordictrack C990 treadmill is one of the most popular treadmills under $1000 on the market right now.
Compared to other models at this price point, it just gives you so much more – like a super-strong 3.0 HP motor, extra long 60 inch belt, iFit LIVE compatibility, iPod dock and even adjustable cushioning.
The new 2016 model also upgrades to a full-color web browser (the 2015 model was only dual color with no web browser), making the new 990 treadmill one of the best treadmill values under $1000 right now.

Pros of the Nordictrack C990 Treadmill:
#1 Full Color Touch Screen Console
For 2016, Nordictrack has changed the console on the 990 treadmill from dual color to full color – with a web browser. This is a huge update and it technically makes the C990 treadmill the most affordable treadmill at this price point with a full color web brower.
Here’s the old console on the 990:
Here’s the new console – quite a difference:
#2 Beefy Basics
The C990 gives you some excellent “basics” you don’t usually get in a treadmill for under $1000.
For example you get a super-powered 3.0 HP motor that will easily power you through longer or more intense workouts. You also get an extra long 60 inch belt – giving runners or taller users that extra belt space.
The 2.5 inch rear rollers help to reduce wear and tear on the drive system (which helps your treadmill to last longer). And if you want to build in some calorie-blasting intervals, you can get up to 12% incline.
#3 iPod Dock With Speakers
Plug in your iPod or similar device, and listen to your favorite tunes through the built-in speakers.
This is another fun entertainment option that can help your workouts more enjoyable.
#4 Adjustable Cushioning
This is another feature you don’t usually find on other treadmills under $1000.
You can customize the deck feel to your personal preference.
For a softer, more cushioned feel, you can turn the cushioning up. Or turn it down for a more “road-like” firmer-surface feel.
#5 iFit Compatible
With iFit you’ll never be bored. You can download new workouts from Jillian Michaels to your treadmill and listen while she directs and coaches you through the built-in speakers.
You can also choose to run famous trails all over the world like Paris or Hawaii. Or map out new trails yourself using Googlemaps and watch landmarks pass you by in the console screen.
Want some inspiration? Just online to track and map out your workout history to see how far you’ve come!
#6 Console Fan To Stay Cool
The Nordictrack C990 console comes with a built-in fan to help you stay cool while you walk. The fan automatically adjusts to match your workout intensity – or you can adjust it manually.
Cons of the Nordictrack C990 Treadmill:
#1 iFit LIVE Subscription Required
While the C990 treadmill works fine without iFit LIVE, if you want to try out all the benefits of iFit then you’ll need a subscription (around $99 a year).
#2 No Wireless Heart Rate Monitor
While the 990 treadmill is compatible with a wireless heart rate monitor, it does not come with one – only the hand grip sensors. So if you want wireless heart rate monitoring, you’ll have to buy one yourself.
Bottom Line?
The Nordictrack C990 has been a bestseller in its price class for over a year now. And with the new color console, the 2016 model is an even better value than the 2015 model.
You really can’t find this much in another brand model under $1000. If you want some strong basics along with lots of fun entertainment options, this is definitely one to consider.
