Proform 400 Treadmill Review – Pros:
Good Basics
While they aren’t over the top great, you do get some simple, good basic construction on this treadmill including a decent motor, a fairly sized belt and one of the newer cushioning systems to give you some joint protection.
One-Touch Speed/Incline Controls
You can change your speed or incline with the touch of a button instead of scrolling up and down through your options.
iPod Dock With Speakers
Add some fun to your workout by plugging in your iPod and playing your favorite tunes through the console speakers
18 Built-In Workouts
If you want a challenge, try one of the built-in workouts designed by a personal trainer. The workouts will adjust the treadmill speed and/or incline for you as you workout.
Grip Pulse Heart Rate Monitor
Stay in your target fat burning zone with the hand sensor heart rate monitor in front of the console.
Proform 400 Treadmill Review – Cons
Simple, Basic Machine
While it does give you some good basics, you really don’t get any of the entertainment extras that Proform is so good at with this treadmill. There’s no iFit LIVE, web browser or backlit, funky console. Still, some people really don’t care about all of that, they just want a treadmill to walk on.
Shorter Belt
While it should be fine for most users, taller walkers may feel a bit cramped on the 55″ belt and may want to go longer with a 60″ belt on higher end Proforms.
Bottom Line?
If you’re looking for a simple treadmill to walk on – without spending a fortune, the Proform Performance 400 treadmill is definitely worth considering. It comes in at a great price and all of the must-have essentials are there.
While it won’t win any awards for the most entertaining treadmill, at this price point, it gives you solid value – and it does what you want it to do. Plus it’s covered by quite a decent warranty to give you some protection on your investment.
