Proform 600 Treadmill Review

One of the most affordable treadmills from Proform is the Performance 600 coming in under $800.

It’s proven very popular with buyers – which explains why Proform has kept it around for over a year now. (They often retire models after a year if they don’t sell well.)

Coming in for under $800, it gives you some surprisingly impressive features you don’t usually find at this price point including an extra long 60 inch belt, higher 12 MPH speed limit, 12% incline instead of 10% and an iFit LIVE option.

Is the Proform 600 treadmill a good buy for you? Here’s a quick overview of what you should know.

The Basics:

Proform 600 Treadmill Review – the Benefits:

iFit LIVE Compatible

This is a feature that is basically going to be put on all Proform treadmills – and it takes your treadmill to a whole new level. iFit connects your treadmill to the Internet and from there you can download new workouts from Jillian Michaels, track your fitness progress over time and reach new goals.

You can also use Googlemaps to plot out new running trails all over the world and watch as the terrain passes you by in the console window.

Extra Long 60 inch Belt

While most mid-range treadmills over $1000 have the longer 60 inch belt, you don’t usually find it on a treadmill under $800 (they’re usually only about 55 inches). So it’s a real steal here.

The larger belt size is great for runners or taller users as they can pick up the pace without falling off the end of the treadmill.

Quick Incline/Speed Controls

The Proform 600 treadmill has one-touch speed and incline buttons on the console. So you can adjust the workout to your preferences quickly and easily. Very convenient.

22 Built In Workouts

Proform calls these “Apps” but they are basically built-in workouts. These are designed by a certified personal trainer to focus on specific workout goals like calorie burning, performance and more. The workout will adjust your speed and incline according to the workout.

12 MPH Speed Limit

This is another feature that surprised me – you usually only get up to 10 MPH with most treadmills under $1000. So, like the belt size, this is another hidden gem on this treadmill.

Backlit Console Window

The console window on this treadmill is bright (backlit) and easy to read. Although it is one of the smaller console windows that Proform makes, it’s still good enough to show your workout stats as you walk – and a big improvement over past Proform models at this price point. proform-600-treadmill-folded

So those are the main benefits – are there any drawbacks?

Just the Basics

The Proform 600 treadmill is a starter model. So it is relatively simple. You don’t get a lot of bells and whistles with this unit (ie, full color console, workout videos, etc.) Then again, considering the low price, you’d expect a fairly simple unit. That doesn’t mean it’s poorly built – the construction is solid. It’s just a bit pared-down.

iFit LIVE Module Required

While the Proform 600 treadmill comes iFit LIVE compatible – you do have to purchase the iFit LIVE module (it’s not “built-in” like some models). This is about $99.

You don’t need to have iFit to use this treadmill – it works just fine without it. But just be aware that if you’re going to use iFit, you’ll need to buy the extra module (which you can get when you buy the Proform 600C here)

Bottom Line?

The Proform 600 Performance treadmill is a basic treadmill that comes in at a great price. While you don’t get a lot of bells and whistles, the basics are there. And at this price point, Proform is one of the best brands to go with as they have the resources and the money to make a better treadmill for less.

There’s also a few hidden gems on the Proform 600 that you don’t usually find like the longer belt, iFit LIVE option and higher speed limit – so overall it’s a great value for the money.
