Pros and Cons of the Schwinn 830

Schwinn 830 Treadmill

The Schwinn 830 Treadmill is currently the most affordable treadmill in the Schwinn lineup.

It has some great basics like a bright, backlit LCD console, 2.75 HP motor and 12% incline.

You also have a media shelf above the console. So you can attach your tablet and surf the net or watch movies as you run.

And the charging USB port ensures that your devices will never run out of power on the treadmill.

So is the Schwinn 830 treadmill a good buy for you? How does it compare?

Schwinn 830 Console

Schwinn 830 Treadmill Review – Benefits:

Bright Backlit Console

The console is bright and easy to read. It’s also fairly well laid out and intuitive (easy to figure out.). There are quick speed and incline buttons for on-the-fly changes and a hand grip heart rate monitor – basically every you need.

Plus there’s a safety key included that will turn the machine off when it’s pulled out of the console. This is not something you often find on today’s treadmills and is a nice safety option.

Media Shelf

There’s a handy media shelf above the console window on this treadmill. So you can use your tablet or phone and watch YouTube or Netflix videos as you run.

Plus there’s also a charging port. So you can make sure your devices are always charged while on your treadmill.

Folding with Softdrop Assist

The treadmill folds up to save you space. There’s also a softdrop feature that almost unfolds the treadmill on its own – which helps to save the strain on your back.

MP3 Port with Built In Speakers

While this is fairly common nowadays, it’s still a great option to have. You can plug in your iPohone or other device in the media shelf and listen to your favorite tunes out of the chambered console speakers.

4 User Profiles

The console lets you enter information for four users to get accurate workout info and keep track of your progress towards your goals – not something you usually find on a starter treadmill.

Ergonomic Heart Rate Sensors

You can track your heart rate with the hand grip sensors in front of the console. It’s nice to see that Schwinn angled them – for easier grasping. It’s a small thing but it is slightly more comfortable than grasping other sensors that run parallel to the console.

It also works with a wireless heart rate monitor (not included with the treadmill).

Schwinn 830 Review – Any Drawbacks?

The Schwinn 830 treadmill does not come with Bluetooth connectivity as the Schwinn 870 treadmill does.

Also, while the console is bright and easy-to-read, it does fall down a bit, especially when you compare it to treadmills like the Nordictrack T7.5 – which has a full-color, HD touch-screen console for the same price.

Bottom Line?

The Schwinn 830 treadmill is a simple, starter treadmill with some decent basics. It doesn’t have anything over-the-top impressive, and it does fall down when compared to similarly priced newer treadmills.

However if you like the Schwinn name and want one of their treadmills at a decent price, the Schwinn 830 is worth considering.

Other treadmills to compare it to include the Schwinn 870 and the Nordictrack T7.5
