Sole S77 Treadmill Review
How Does the Sole S77 Treadmill Compare?

The Sole S77 Treadmill is Sole’s non-folding, premium treadmill. It’s very similar to the F85 model (except that it doesn’t fold and is $100 cheaper).
The construction on this unit puts it into the “premium” category as it has a monster 4.0 HP motor with an extra large belt and deck.
The S77 also comes with Sole’s famous Cushion Flex Cushioning which helps reduce the impact on your joints by up to 40% vs road running. And the extra-large console with iPod dock option helps to add some entertainment to the mix.
So is it a good buy for you? And how does it compare to other models? Here’s a rundown of what you should know:

Sole S77 Treadmill Review – The Pros:
Huge Motor Stands Up To Aggressive Workouts
The S77 has a monster 4.0 HP ultra-high-torque motor with flywheel. Flywheels cause the motor to run cooler with less amp draw and extend the life of the motor.
This means it can easily power the extra large belt (if you have a large belt and not enough motor power, you can quickly burn out your motor). Plus it’s covered by a lifetime motor warranty to protect your investment.
CushionFlex Cushioning
CushionFlex was shown in a university study to reduce impact on your joints by 40% (vs road running). So this system gives you great protection for you knees, hips and back. .
The deck is actually reversible and it’s the same type of deck used in Commercial grade models. The deck is also wax lubricated, which means less work on the motor during use.
Extra Large Belt
The belt has been widened to a full 22 inches and is quite long at 60 inches. This gives you extra room to stretch out and run – which is great for taller users or frequent runners.
Side Handrail Controls
The S77 comes with Sole’s popular side handrail controls. You can make changes to your speed and incline from the side rails instead of reaching up to the console This may not seem like a big thing – but it’s really convenient and many people like it.
iPod Dock with Speakers
There’s a port on the console where you can plug in you iPod or other compatible mp3 device and listen to your favorite tunes through the built-in speakers – which adds some variety to your workout.
Extra Large Console Window
The S77 has one of Sole largest console windows. It’s backlit and easy to read, showing a constant display of your Speed, Incline, Time, Distance Traveled, Calories, Pulse and Pace (it doesn’t toggle back and forth).
Plus there’s also a fan to keep you cool and 6 built-in workout programs to add some challenge to your workouts.
Sole S77 Treadmill Review – The Drawbacks
No Wireless Heart Rate Monitor
While the treadmill is compatible with a wireless heart rate monitor – you don’t get one included with the treadmill. This isn’t a big thing – but at this price point, you would expect it.
Limited Entertainment Options
Sole really focuses on heavy-end construction and great cushioning. But they fall down in the area of entertainment.
You only get a few built-in workouts and an iPod dock on this treadmill.
Compare that to the Nordictrack 1750 for example which has many of the same features as the S77 – but also adds a full-color web browser, tons of built-in workouts, HD workout videos and even a decline feature – plus it’s $200 less.
Bottom Line?
If you’re looking for a premium Sole treadmill – but don’t really care about the folding option and want to save $100, you’ll probably love the S77. It’s a monster machine that’s built like a truck, super-stable with great cushioning protection.
It’s built to last a long time – even if you plan on frequent running workouts.
It does fall down in terms of entertainment and console options. But if you don’t really care about bells and whistles, then this treadmill is definitely worth checking out.
Where to Buy and Save
