Intelligent Weight Management

The Boca comes with a Bluetooth wireless weight scale. This communicates with your treadmill to keep you in a target weight range. You weight yourself on the scale and it can sense even minute changes to your weight.

It will then communicate wirelessly to the treadmill and streamline a program to meet your target weight goals (so if you had a little too much at the buffet last night, don’t worry, your treadmill has you covered).

LiveLight App To Track Your Calories

The Boca also works with the myLiveLight application to give you the ability to track your caloric intake vs. calories burned while also tracking your meals, workouts and progress in real time.

 

 

SwingArm Suspension Cushioning

The Swingarm cushioning works to spread out the force of your impact evenly across the entire treadmill deck and reduce impact on your joints. It’s also great for calorie burn (you don’t fatigue as fast).  Lab tests proved caloric burn improved up to 23% with this cushioning system.

 

 

Motion Control on the Handrails

You can control your speed with the swipe of your hand over the motion control sensors on the handrails – very cool.  Plus, if you need to stop the treadmill in a hurry, you just hold both hands over both sensors (left and right).

Use the Bluetooth technology to connect your smart phone or tablet wirelessly and stream music into the FitSound speakers. 3 Speed Fan With Air Filter

While most treadmills do have console fans these days, the Boca fan is something else. It’s super strong to keep you cool – and there’s even a built-in air filter on the console.

A lot of people prefer the wireless heart rate monitor because it’s more accurate (and easier to use since you don’t have to keep grasping the hand sensors).

Essentials Lacking

While you get all the basics for a good runners treadmill – there are a few things we thought were a bit lacking. For example, you only get up to 12% incline – not 15% as you’d expect at this price point. Also the motor is only 2.75 HP – again, you’d expect a bit more for a $2000 treadmill.

 

 

Great for Techies – But The Rest of Us?

This is the tech-lovers dream treadmill. But if you’re not really into Bluetooth or apps or intelligent scales (and there are some of us who are not), this treadmill might be lost on you.

Bottom Line?

The Yowza Boca deserves high praise for offering some completely new features that really push the envelope in terms of what your treadmill can do. It’s a great choice for a tech-loving, iPad, Bluetooth generation.

However at this price point there’s a lot of competition – and it does fall down a bit in terms of the basics like a super-tough motor or higher incline. You may want to compare it to leading models like the Nordictrack Commercial 1750 before making the final decision.
